  1. Rameswar Temple: Situated at the confluence of the Mahanadi and Tel rivers, this ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The legend associates its establishment with Lord Ram. The temple complex also houses shrines for Lord Kartik, Lord Ganesh, Goddess Parvati, and a Durga temple featuring a ten-armed Durga idol.
  2. Subarnameru Temple: Located approximately 2 km from Sonepur town on the banks of the Tel River, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built by the legendary trader Neuli during the reign of Raja Lal Sai Deo in the 17th century, it is often referred to as the second Varanasi temple in India.
  3. Patali Srikhetra: This significant religious site is associated with Shaktism, Buddhism, and Vaishnavism. Located at the foot of Trikut Hill in Kotsamalai, it is believed that the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra were hidden here for 144 years.
  4. Lankeswari Temple: Situated inside the Mahanadi River at Sonepur town, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Lankeswari. The region was once known as Paschima Lanka, and the temple holds significant historical importance.
  5. Papakshya Ghat: Located in Binika, about 32 km from Sonepur, this ghat is believed to wash away sins. Emperor Ananga Bhimadev-III is said to have been cured of leprosy by taking a holy dip here.
  6. Bhima Bhoi Samadhi Pitha, Khaliapali: Situated 30 km from Sonepur, this site is dedicated to the renowned poet and saint Bhima Bhoi. The Samadhi Mandir, also known as Sunya Mandir, is over 110 years old.
  7. Thengo Dam: Located in the Birmaharajpur Block, this dam is a popular picnic spot. Visitors can enjoy boating and observe various species of birds, including peacocks. During winter, it attracts migratory birds, similar to Chilika Lake.
